Brief introduction

　　The Medical Ethics Committee of Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital was established on December 4, 2014. The current (2019-2021) Medical Ethics Committee (MEC) will be renewed on July 4, 2019. The chairman, vice chairman and committee members are total 23 people with multi-disciplinary background, including medical professionals, non-medical professionals, legal experts and lay members. The chairman is Qinping Liao, Professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

　　The main responsibilities of the medical ethics committee is as followed.

　　1. Deliberating and formulating biomedical research with human involved at our hospital and implementing SOPs and regulations of new medical technologies/new projects related to ethnics;

　　2. Planning training of medical ethics education for employees and supervising the implementation;

　　3. Examining clinical trials of drug/device proposed at our hospital, biomedical research involving human longitudinally, transversally and spontaneously and medical new technologies/projects and regularly following up and supervising the medical behavior of the above projects;

　　4. Deliberating cases of medical staff's violation of medical ethics and proposing punishments;

　　5. Examining ethical related issues of clinical research projects commissioned by other institutions.
